Two days 'till Traverse City!

On Monday Sarah and I are driving up to Traverse City (four hours north of Ann Arbor) for the week.  We decided on Traverse City after seeing it on a list of "best foodie towns in America" and have since seen it featured in Bon Appetit among other places.  Coming from California, I like to think of it as the Napa Valley of the Midwest - best known for its wineries, restaurants, and gorgeous scenery.  We decided on this week because it was after Sarah's finals (on which she did exceptionally well despite them being a mere week after our wedding) and late enough that we would avoid any "late Winter" weather, but early enough that it shouldn't be too hot to be pleasant.

The first thing we had to do was find a place to stay.  Instead we found two.  We decided to stay one night at Chateau Chantal - a beautiful bed and breakfast at a winery about 13 miles north of the city on Old Mission Peninsula.  We'll then move to Bayshore Resort - a more centrally located hotel on the main strip of downtown Traverse City.

We're planning to spend a lot of our time outside - hiking, going to Sleeping Bear Dunes, touring wineries, exploring Traverse City, Leland, and the surrounding area, and strolling back to our hotel from various restaurants.  Given our plans, I have been obsessing about the weather.  I have been constantly checking the forecast and so far it is looking pretty good.  Warm, but potentially rainy, on Monday, cooler (high 60s or low 70s) on Tuesday and Wednesday, and perfect (mid-70s and sunny) on Thursday and Friday.  Can't ask for better than that!

We are so excited for a week away and we can't to share our adventures with everybody!

Jay
